Dragon Age II is an action RPG developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts in 2011 for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Serving as the sequel to Dragon Age: Origins, the game follows the journey of Hawke, a refugee who rises to power in the city of Kirkwall over a decade. Unlike its predecessor, Dragon Age II focuses on a more personal, character-driven story rather than a grand, world-spanning conflict. The game features a refined combat system with faster, more dynamic action while retaining RPG elements such as party-based tactics and dialogue choices that shape the story. It also introduces a unique framed narrative structure, where Hawke’s tale is recounted by the unreliable narrator Varric. Despite its improvements in storytelling and character development, Dragon Age II received mixed reactions due to its repetitive environments and limited scope compared to Origins.
