Half-Life 2: Episode One

Half-Life 2: Episode One is a first-person shooter developed by Valve and released for PC in 2006 as the first standalone expansion to Half-Life 2. Continuing the story immediately after the events of the main game, players once again take on the role of Gordon Freeman, who, alongside Alyx Vance, must escape from City 17 before the Citadel collapses. The game refines the physics-based gameplay and AI interactions introduced in Half-Life 2, emphasizing cooperative moments with Alyx as she assists in combat and puzzle-solving. Episode One introduces new challenges, such as navigating dark areas with limited light and fighting increasingly aggressive enemies. With an intense, cinematic experience and an improved Source engine, Half-Life 2: Episode One expands on the series' narrative while setting the stage for its sequel, Episode Two.
