WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 is a professional wrestling video game developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ, released for the PlayStation 2 in November 2007. This installment introduced a major new gameplay feature: the Fighting Styles system. Each wrestler was assigned one of eight unique styles, such as Powerhouse, Submission, or High Flyer, each offering different abilities and strategy options. The game also added the Struggle Submission System, allowing players to control submission pressure with the analog stick for more realistic grappling.

One of the biggest additions to the series was the inclusion of ECW as a third brand alongside Raw and SmackDown, complete with its own roster, arenas, and extreme weapons like barbed-wire bats and flaming tables. The game combined the traditional Season and General Manager modes into the new 24/7 Mode, where players could manage their superstar's career, participate in storylines, and work toward Hall of Fame goals.

Despite its innovations, SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 received mixed reviews. While fans appreciated the new systems and the ECW brand integration, others criticized the game for its smaller roster, simplified mechanics, and lack of polish compared to previous entries. Still, it remains a notable title in the series for attempting to shake up the formula and bring more depth to the wrestling simulation experience.
